LAX – Sepulveda Blvd (Next to In ‘N Out)

From certain angles, things look unsettling. A few steps back and moments later, a soft landing. Seems like a helpful reminder when starting any descent!

I photographed this plane on approach to LAX. Despite the very real roar of the jet engines, this frozen version looks like a child’s toy that could be snatched from the sky. It tells the story of not even a second – in this case 1/200ths of a second.

To me, that’s the power of photography – the ability to stop a moment from flying by and knowing a million moments will follow.
